Interestingly, the story of Aitchison College Lahore doesn't start in Lahore.

It starts in Umballa, way back in 1868. That's where the Wards School first opened its doors with a pretty bold goal: give a world-class education to the ruling chiefs, prominent families, and court wards of the Punjab region. I was ambitious at that time. But they meant every word of it.

Official Establishment

As Punjab's capital shifted and the colonial government's educational dreams got bigger, the school got a serious upgrade.

On January 2, 1886, it was officially reborn as the Punjab Chiefs' College.

The college got a new name, 'Aitchison College'. In honor of Sir Charles Umpherston Aitchison, the Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab.
